I think that all of the giant cruise ships are similar and cannot see how a newer, bigger ship would affect people's decisions to take cruises or not.

When you book a cruise, your first choice is location, not a specific ship.
When you book a cruise, your second part of the decision is price.
The third part of the decision to book a cruise is the company that offers the best deal for the price you want to spend going to the location you want to take your cruise in.
If you still have not made your decision, your fourth part may be the specific ship you want to board.

So, if you think the newer ship will make a company a good investment or not, you would do better to consider many other factors instead.

Try looking at the company's expenses, debts, quarterly profits and profit projections.

I would not base my buying decision of a stock on a new ship, these are hard times and Royal Caribbean still has to fill this ship.

I myself just got back from a Carnival cruise and could not help noticing how empty the ship looked. Unlike the past , we had no problem getting seats for the shows or walking around the ship

The company did slash there dividend last year, but if you do like cruising, Royal Caribbean like Carnival does reward its shareholders with on board credit

if they struggle, and have to heavily discount to attract customers, no

as with all stocks, it depends on your view on the economy, and whether "luxury" (I used the term loosely) travel will be in demand or not

That would depend on do you see cruise tourism picking up in the next 2-10 years.

Which of course, depends on how the economy in general picks up.
