I really wanna go on the oasis of the sea next year really bad but..................?

i'm very scared that it will sink like titanic i know its in the Caribbean but i am still scared

Answer :
Well, first of all there is virtually no chance you will strike an iceberg. In addition modern cruise ships have more than enough lifeboats and rafts for all of the passengers, in the time of the Titanic they were not required to have as many and this is one of the reasons there was so much loss of life. In addition the steel used to make the Titanic was faulty making it brittle in the cold Atlantic waters. Since that time the understanding of the effects of various impurities in metals and how they affect them has come a long way and metal such as used in the making of the Titanic can not be used.

The odds of a ship sinking these days are very slim, especially in charted waters like the Caribbean. If that unlikely event were to occur you would have hours to get off the ship and by that time there would be dozens of other ships on hand to assist. Although ships have sunk there has been little or no loss of life in recent decades and there have been no sinking's of cruise ships in the area you are going to.

I have cruised and will continue to do so....after all it is safer than crossing the street.

Answer :
First off let's remember the Titanic was 97 years ago, a lot has changed. Also there are enough lifeboats for EVERYONE on board. There are no ice bergs in the caribbean, and there are computers driving the ship and looking out for objects, human error caused the sinking of the Titanic. There are still crew members on the lookout for things a computer might not detect so that is yet another added precaution. If you are very concerned I would get a cabin just above the lifeboats. Pay close attention to the muster drill, read over the safety information. There are over 100 cruise ships and millions of people cruise every year, and they all safely enjoy their vacation. Don't let your fear keep you from the chance to go on Oasis of the Seas. Have a great trip, you will be fine!

Answer :
WORST CASE SCENARIO: Something does happen to the ship that could cause it to sink.

Ships don't usually sink really fast.
You're in the Caribbean. The water is not freezing cold. You won't die of hypothermia.
There are MANY ships in the area that will come to your rescue.
You are only a couple hours (max) flight from multiple Coast Guard stations.

BEST CASE SCENARIO: Take the trip and have the time of your life!

Go to the muster drill. Pay attention and learn what to do in an emergency. Make a personal plan should something happen.

Answer :
have to say i think that ship is horrible.
it wont sink and if it does you wont die it will sink slow enough that you will be in a lifeboat. nowdays we have machines scanning far ahead if theres anything that is dangerous you will miss it for sure.

Answer :
it won't

Titanic was caused by horrible ship design and human negligence and that's all been fixed

Oasis is a brand new ship and cost over a billion dollars to make so I'm sure the crew and captain will be VERY careful

Titanic vs. Oasis of the Sea?

im doing a research paper with comparing and contrasting these to cruise ships. i have any contrasting, but barely any comparing. Can someone give me some idea's please

Answer :
The ship surpasses the Freedom-class cruise ships (also owned by Royal Caribbean) as the world's largest passenger vessel. (As Titanic did in her time)

They were built almost 100 years apart.

Only rich people can afford to sail right now :)

Can anyone recommend a decent hotel in Port Everglades that overlooks the Oasis Of The Seas cruise port?

I am going on Oasis in mid-May 2010 and wanted a hotel near the port for a night or two prior to cruising- preferably a hotel that would provide a room with a view of the port. I was interested in booking the Ft Lauderdale Hilton Marina...but I'm starting to hear not so good things about it...lol...what do ya'll think? Any opinions/recommendations/suggestions/com… are accepted and appreciated! Thank You!

Answer :
You can try the Radisson! Here's a link to their webcam that overlooks the canal that the cruise ships use and dock at in the port. The address and phone number are at the bottom of the webcam page.

What is the best type of cruise?

I want to take my family on a cruise.. A 7 day over spring break. Not carnival.. Maybe the oasis of the seas.? Has anyone been on it>? Any other great ships? I want it to be entertaining for my kids, my son is 17, daughter- 14, and daughter-11... And where should we go, snorkeling?

Answer :
yeah if you have the opportunity and the cash then sail Oasis

it's the largest cruise ship in the world, you won't get anymore activities than on that ship

Answer :
You can go on the Oasis of the Seas, but it's kinda expensive, If you kids enjoy ice skating and carosels, go for it, if not, Royal Carribean has some great other ships. I went on the Majesty of the Seas, It's a smaller ship, but it was lots of fun! Snorkling is fun, but hanging on the beach is good too. They have jet skis and the largest inflateable water slide! Plus they have a bunch of inflateable things for the water, like trampolines in like 15 ft water! But you have a life jacket :^) Hope this helps!

Answer :
As far as I'm concerned if you can go on the Oasis of the sea, then do it, but the prices are pretty high for that ship now. Any of the other cruise lines would be great too, even Princess. Just so you know spring break is a very popular time to cruise and all cruise ships fill up fast for this time period. If you go to the Caribbean, then St Thomas is my favorite place to snorkel. You can book an excursion that takes you to St Johns bay and there you will have some of the best snorkeling ever. If you go to Mexico, then my favorite is either Cancun or Cabo. But, for me any cruise is a wonderful vacation no matter where you go.

Answer :

You should meet a lot of teens. This is the biggest ship in the world right now for cruising and Royal Caribbean has a very big Teen Program. So just get involved in the teen program and you will meet other teens right away to hang out with

Has anyone ever been in a Presidential Family Suite at a Royal Carribean Cruise on the Oasis of the Seas?

I'm thinking of planning a cruise on the Oasis of the Seas for a large group, 10-15 people. I am interested in reserving the Presidential Family Suite, has anyone ever cruised in it? How much did it cost, what was the experience, and how did you reserve it? Thanks, much help is appreciated!

Answer :
I've been in the Presidential Suite when I did a ship tour, but I didn't "experience" it. However, it will only accommodate 14 people so you might need to leave someone at home (but Royal Caribbean may allow that 15th passenger if it's a baby or very small child [due to Coast Guard regulations.]) A minimum of 8 people is required to book it.

It has four bedrooms and three bathrooms.

You can call Vacations To Go and an agent can get the pricing for you (and pricing can only be confirmed once you select a sailing date because pricing varies based on the date you want to travel.)

Just for fun, I priced out the Caribbean for September 24, 2011. The total for 14 people would be $31,683.84

A Christmas or New Years sailing will be more than that.

Answer :
I've not, but this video might be helpful to you. A nice tour of the Suite on Voyager of the Seas.

Good luck.

Answer :
the oasis just set sail...its gonna be amazing!!! the largest ship. with a boardwalk and central park! ahhhh im jealous lol have fun :)

Questions on the Oasis of the Seas cruise?

For the Oasis of the Seas, besides the dining room being free (included in the prices), is there a place where can I get water, coffee, and food free for 24 hours? The Princess Cruise Line has a 24 hour buffet; do they have one on the Oasis of the Seas? Is there complimentary water and/ or food put in the cabins every day? Thanks!

Answer :
Go to the buffet, they are open most of the day, and have water, coffee, juice, iced tea, and tons of food, all free. I don't know about what is put in the cabins, but Im sure its not free. You can have room service bring you food or drink though, and it is free (assuming the drink is not alcoholic).

~An Ode to Love~..... a poem I hope you'll enjoy. :)?

Have you ever drank from its eternal waters?
Walked through deserts, but found its oasis
Have you seen its miracles in your soul
Witness pains disappear to far away places?

Have you allowed it to wash away sins and fears?
Known the forgiveness that comes from its strength
Seen its gentleness melt like the sun into the sea
Or observed its wisdom as close as arm’s length?

Have you ever drank from this purest fountain?
A gentle brook from a mountain high above
Have you ever bathed in its healing waters
The waters from the fountain of true Love?

Without IT to a colourless life you’re doomed
Will you not seek the light, there in Love’s womb?
Earthly demands, tormenting, there await respite
Envisioning fields of flowers bright in bloom

In loneliness, does Heaven truly exist?
Did IT not bring to existence Two, not One?
For nothing is as complete in loveliness
As one pure soul with Love another to have won

Answer :
One keep things at arm’s length.
Like trouble and mad dogs.
See where you are going though although love is not the universal panacea but compassion.

Answer :
Love is a good thing to have in your life
I go a bit farther with where that love comes from...

God's love is the love that makes all worth while.

Excellent write :)

Answer :
I really Love this.. i love your use of words, and I know not all poems have to rhyme ?, but in my opinion its nice when they do !!..
Lovely Poem

Anyone have an opinion on my poem?

‘Twas an alien world…

‘Twas an alien world,
The one I lingered above.

Were those dunes of pale brown
Ones of sand, or clouds’ surface?

The surfaces descend into oblivion,
Or curl unto themselves, another land.

This plane is covered by a thin film,
One of dust, or of mist.

Dual suns sit stagnant,
One still high, the other resting below the horizon.

Was the latter an entity simply hazed,
Or a doppelganger sprawled across the sea?

Lines appear and disappear,
Surely an ancient city cowering behind its walls.

And a glimmer, a point in space
Sparkling in the boundless sand.

‘Tis but a lone caravan
Crawling along the waving atmosphere.

An oasis becomes in the wasteland,
Quickly, before the rays pass the tepid surface.

Do the waves pulsate across the midday ground
Or wash over my imagination and cloud my vision?

My lids fall but for a moment
And eyes are cleansed by burning tears.

And as they rise like curtains
I see no roaming sand.

No aquatic mirage dancing in the heat,
Nor wand’ring merchant dripping down the landscape.

The sun has left the heartbroken sky,
Stolen by the fateful passing of hours.

The dunes are gone, wiped from my view,
Replaced by fluttering waters and solid ground.

Was the mute Saharan tundra,
Or was it not?

The air drifts from my chest, my eyes close,
As I long to return to my once-foreign home.

Answer :
My honest opinion? I think it's beautiful. I mean, just reading the first few lines i felt like i was somewhere else. I think you have real talent. When you can take someone out of their lives and take them somewhere else for a moment of their life, you know you have something good.

Have you been on the Oasis of the Seas? Or would you like to?

Have you been on the Oasis of the Seas? Or would you like to?

Additional Details

yes, I just sailed the first trip of the decade!

Answer :
We were on Independence for a Baltic cruise last August/September and were able to watch a video about Oasis.
She looks to be pretty staggering (as she should be being the largest cruise ship afloat).
I wouldn't mind having a couple of weeks aboard, although I keep losing my husband (he has no sense of direction!) on the medium to large ships, so I'd probably never see him again if I took him on Oasis.
Looks good fun for young people - so much to do.

Answer :
I want to go on it soooo bad. My brother and I were just talking about it to my mom today at lunch. Maybe we'll convince my parents. We have been on 4 cruises and 3 of them w/ RCI. I know I will go on it some day

no i haven't but would love too specially if its free

Carnival vs Royal Caribbean?

I read the following a little while back:

"Gerry Cahill made the comments while promoting his company's new vessel Carnival Dream to the Florida newspaper the St Petersburg Times.

He told the news provider: "Anybody can spend an unlimited amount of money to come up with all sorts of innovations.

However, he said that these can lead to higher costs which will be passed on to passengers.

Oasis of the Seas has gained attention for many of its innovative features, including touch-screen information boards and special on-board mobile phones which allow passengers to stay in touch with each other at all times.

Carnival instead choose to focus on passengers' experiences, he said, promoting the unique main show on board Carnival Dream, Dancin' in the Streets, which avoids aping Broadway or Vegas in favour of high-energy entertainment."

What do you think of him saying this? Do you think he has the right to say this? (Since his Dream isn't nearly as innovative as the Oasis)

Answer :
He does have a point. All the uniqueness about what is on Oasis of the Sea like the ice skating rink, all these high tech amenities, the cost of which is directly passed on to the consumer.

On the other hand his comments on the main show are funny since not many people on a ship ever go to the show.

And to your question on whether he has a right to say what he did. I would remind you this is America and we can say just about anything we want to say as long as its based on facts. Since there's nothing to suggest that what he said about Oasis of the Sea is false

I need some help with getting into shape?

Recently, i booked a vacation that i have been wanting to go on for a really long time now. I'm going on the Oasis of the Seas on June 19 and since i've been dieing to go on this for so long, i want to get into shape so i can actually enjoy the full cruise vacation without being self conscience

i weigh 165 right now which is overweight(15 year old boy)
most of my friends weigh around 120 so i want to be in that general range
i calcuated it out and i need to lose 10 pounds a months
that may not seem like much but it is to me as i dont really have much effort

is there anything i can do to make sure i finally lose those pounds?
i have a gym membership so i have access to stuff like that
thanks

Answer :
20 minute walk ( NOT RUN ) everyday. walking or tread mill speed less then 3.0 possibly with incline will burn fat do not run. running will do cardio. you want weight loss.

Drink water at least 8 cups a day. no more pop. diet soda is worst than regualr soda, aspertane is really really not good for you

your job is fill your stomach with low calororie high volume food.

if the food is close to natual state, it's less calorie per same size, ( corn < style="font-weight: bold;">Answer :
The formula for losing those unwanted pounds is simple - eat less and exercise more often - the difficulties arise when we in reality try to put that into practice! There are loads of stumbling blocks in the big wide world aren't there?! I discovered some excellent advice by checking out the web portal in the box below, they have loads of instruction, I shed 7 pounds by using their methods.

Answer :
www.self.com its a nice site with a lot of free videos when you register a username its all free they also have great recipes that are healthy and taste and looks amazing

i have their magazine but their website is very helpful

What is the minimum age to go on the zip line on the oasis of the seas?

i'm 12 years old and I was wondering if I could go on the zip line when i'll go on the oasis of the seas. Is there a minimum age or does it go by height or weight?

Answer :
Royal Caribbean International requires waivers for the FlowRider®, ice skating, inline skating, the bungee trampoline, the Rock Climbing Wall, and the Zip Line. However its web site does not have a statement of the minimum age requirement for the zip line. You'll probably have to call RC if you want to know in advance of your cruises. You will have to complete a waiver form. You will be able to complete all Onboard Activities Waivers once onboard. If you're sailing on Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas, you may sign waivers online, up to 3 days prior to your sail date. For each person you are signing a waiver for (yourself and/or a minor), you must have the guest's last name, date of birth, reservation number, and the name of the ship and sail date.

All activities may have age, height, and/or weight restrictions. Guests participating in the FlowRider®, for example, must be at least 52"/132 cm tall to use the bodyboard and 58"/147 cm tall to use the flowboard. Rock climbers must be at least 6 years old, and climbers under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please see each individual activity's waiver for restrictions and requirements.

Answer :
have u looked under shore excursions? if not i think it goes by both age and weight on carnival you have to be miniumium 8 years old and max. weight is 300 pounds

Whats the big hype about?

why is everyone getting in tiny arguments about Carnival Dream and Royal Carribean Oasis of the seas?

Additional Details

Im just asking cause i know everyone has their own opinions. In my opinion i like carnival more, but im not going to try to argue that carnival is better than the dream. Everyone has their own opinion and you can't change that.

Answer :
Like the first answer, big is not always better, nor is new ship. I have been on 10 cruises, and all the ships were more then 2 years old. The biggest carried 3,200 passengers and the smallest that I have been on carried 1,700. Never the less, each cruise was fantastic. I DO NOT pick the ship first, but where the cruise is going. Then if 2 ships are going to the exact same place, I then pick the ship. BTW, I prefer Princess which have 2 new ships coming out by 2012(small ships), but I will only go on them if the itinerary suits me.

Answer :
Its a new experience of size and that is what people are obviously crazy about. But when you want to go for a cruise with excellent service and personality rather than mass treatments, you better select a ship in the range of max. 90.000 tons, not exceeding 2.000 passengers.
Big is nor necessarily better, except you belong to those who need it for their ego that you had to be at the latest, biggest, most modern etc. ship.

Answer :
it's the Carnival fans trying to argue that the Dream is better

If you take a cruise on the Royal Carribean Oasis of the Seas, Is all the food free like on other cruises?

Wow, what lousy answers to a perfectly good question. Is "all" the food free? No. There are a few free dining areas, but the majority of restaurants on board carry a surcharge. Want to go to Johnny Rockets? $5 Upcharge. Cupcake shop? Upcharge. Steakhouse? $25. Even room service carries a fee between midnight and 5am.

So you can eat for free, but you'll have to limit yourself to just some of the many resturants. How good are you with avoiding temptation? :)

Oasis is a cool ship, very innovative, no doubt about that. But it is moving in the direction of a shopping center on the seas.

Good luck!

Answer :
On most cruise ships, the food in the Buffets, main dining rooms, or pool deck grills are usually included in the cost. There are a LOT of miscelaneous expenses though, some of which, if you don't do your homework, might catch you by surprise when you see the final bill.

Some ships have what they call "specialty restraunts". Examples of this would include coffe or ice cream shops, certain delis, and some of the adults only/reservations only restraunts. Also, some cruises charge for room service as well.

In your cruise documents, and usually on-line at the cruiseline's website, you should be able to find documentation explaining what is and what is not included in the price.

Many cruiselines offer what appear to be great deals. I don't wish to sound cynical, but the honest truth is they'll advertise really nice initial prices for the cruise, in the hopes that they can make up the difference in revenue by charging ridiculous prices on things they will try to entice you with, such as souvenirs, photographs, gratuities, drinks, excursions, spa treatments, etc. There is a lot of "buy this! Do that!" non-stop hype on many ships. Basically a very expensive amusement park at sea. (That's not to say cruises aren't fun. They're a BLAST!!!!) They like to run with the idea that the passengers are going to get caught in the tourist trap scenario, where they're infatuated with the idea of being on a glamorous cruise ship, and will want to see and do it all. I've been plenty shocked at the end of some of the cruises I've taken when I've received the final bill! It's VERY easy to spend more than you anticipated spending, so be careful, but have fun!

Answer :
There are specialty restaurants that charge an additional fee, but there are plenty of free restaurants and buffets for any traveler. If you wish to celebrate a special evening or try one of the restaurants it is good, but the standard fare is very good.

No, not all the food is free.

Almost all cruise ships today have at least one specialty restaurant where you have to pay an additional surcharge. On Oasis, I want to say there is like 6-7 of these specialty places.

Oasis of the Seas or Norwegian Epic?

Me and my family are going on a cruise christmas 2010. Should we do Royal Caribbeans Oasis of the Seas leaving the 23, or Norwegian Epic leaving the 25? I have been only on royal caribbean and really like it but the norwegian ship looks really cool, which one do you think?

Answer :
First-off, Epic is not completed yet, and will not be for several months, so it is impossible as a passenger to compare the two ships in a real-experience sense. Having said that, let's compare unique features of both ships beginning with Oasis:

Ice Skating rink that includes both Ice Capades-like shows and public ice-skating time (on previous RCCL ships as well)
Boxing Ring (First-seen on Freedom-Class ships)
Man-Made Surf-Riding pools called the "FLOWRIDER" (Another "Freedom-Class First")
High-Diving water-shows augmented by a 26-piece orchestra encompassed by a one-of-a-kind Amphitheater located on the sturn (very back-portion) of the ship in front of seated crowds of more than 300 people.
The one and only Viking Crown Lounge which is located at the highest-point of all RCCL ships.
The "Rising Tide" lounge located in "Central Park". (RCCL's mini-version of New York City's one and only Central Park.) The Rising-Tide bar actually rises and settles between several outdoor decks while providing un-obstructed views from every seat in the bar.
A dedicated children's water Theme-Park
A 300-foot long "Zip-Line" that spans the length of "Central Park, 9 stories above the trees and brooks that run through the park.
Age-Appropriate Science Labs for all school-age kids
A children's theatre mini-camp that actually puts on real stage presentations for family and friends.
Two kinds of balconies: Those which overlook "Central Park" and leave you with the feeling of life in Mid-town Manhattan; and those which look out onto the ocean: Both aft-facing, and outside both the port and starboard sides of the ship.
Two-Story apartments which supply unbelievable, two-story views of the ocean-vista!

These are only the highlights of this amazing work of nautical engineering mastery. There are many other things on this ship like a real Johnny Rockets Diner with singing waiters, a two-story library, an adults-only pool/solarium, Mini-Golf course, a real carnival carosel and much, much more. All of which have been, and continue to be parts of the RCCL 42-year drive to be the best in the business when it comes to dazzling their passengers!

What makes the EPIC stand out?
First would be their new non-conformist cabin-architecture. They are the first cruise-line to re-think the passenger cabin by removing the straight, 90-degree walls, and replacing them with curved ones. (Very unique, and worth checking out.)
Then, there is the Garden-styled apartment-suites located at the very top of the ship. This is where people who don't want to be part of the "crowd" will stay, so they can enjoy all the privacy anyone could want, including a dedicated butler-service and private pool/hot-tub. Can you say HONEYMOON? I thought you could!
Who could forget to mention Blue-Man Shows or Cirque Du-Solei, both NCL exclusives!
Then of course, how about a few frames of bowling? NCL is the only cruise-line with REAL bowling alleys.

Both ships will offer you more shops, shows, art-auctions, restaurants, bars, lounges and more to visit, so don't worry about what you could do, just worry about finding the time to sample all of them!

One post-script: Divegirl below me here mentions that NCL is the only cruise-line that offers you the option of eating anytime you want. This is no longer true. NCL's "Freestyle Dining" has proven so successful, that Royal Caribbean and Carnival have copied the program. If you don't want the rigid Pre-determined dining-times of 6:00PM or 8:15 PM, you can now select Royal Caribbean's "Anytime-Dining" option. Just show up and wait for the Matre' D to seat you for dinner. (But beware... Anytime Dining does not guarantee you will be able to be seated at the exact time you show up for dinner like is the case with the pre-determained times noted above.) If you don't like waiting to be served, stick with the old system of being seated at a pre-determined time. If you select the anytime-dining-option, make sure to discuss with the Matre' D what time is the best for you to avoid the crowds and thus, long waiting-times to be seated for dinner.

Answer :
I was just on a cruise that left from fort lauterdale, I could see the oasis of the seas from my ship, that ship is absolutely huge. I read up on it and it holds 8,600 people including crew. It also can't go to all ports because it's the biggest cruise ship in the world and it doesnt fit at alot of places, so remember that. I don't know the oasis has alot to do on the ship and is probally crowded. So I don't know, smaller ships are easier to deal with because they go to more places and less people.

Answer :
I took Oasis of the Seas on their maiden voyage & all in all, enjoyed it. Much to do, rooms were amazing, etc. My only problem was because it was a completely sold-out cruise, it was very difficult to get in to some of the shows and I was told over the phone before the cruise that there would be babysitters on board (so I could have dinner at least once with only the adults) but when I got on, there was no babysitting available at all on the cruise. It really was an amazing experience though & I would do it again in a heartbeat! I don't know if it was because the Oasis is so big, you do not feel any motion so I'm sure that's a big plus if you get sea sick. I've never been on the Norwegian Epic.

Answer :
I have heard a lot of great things about Royal Caribbean Cruises but I do not hear much about Norwegian Epic. Royal Caribbean seems to be a real favourite along with Carnival crusies. The links below have reviews from persons who have been on these crusie lines before, it should give you great insight on how each of them is and should help you make your choice:

Royal Caribbeans Oasis of the Seas:
http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreview… (Just click on the titles of the reviews and read on)

Norwegian Epic:
It does not seem as though this cruise ship has been launched as yet but the link below should still give you an understanding of what the crusie is like:

I shoud also note that the crusie destinations would also be a major factor in which crusie ship to choose!

Enjoy your cruise!

Answer :
my brother just came back from a 5 day cruise and his Carnival ship was docked next to the Oasis at one port of call. he sent me pictures and it is a MONSTER of a ship. i read that it is 40% bigger than the next largest ship sailing at this time. i am not sure how the Epic will compare. my brother spoke with a few people that were sailing the Oasis. they all had good things to say. for me personally, though, it is too friggin big. i like the smaller ships although the last 2 cruises i was on was the NCL Sun then the NCL Pearl. i did also read that some of the better rooms on the Oasis are booked up for the next 2 years so you might want to make a decision soon.

Answer :
NCL, hands down. I will never go back to Royal Caribbean/Carnival style cruising. With NCL, you can pick when and where you want to eat every night, and never have to eat with random strangers. There is no strict dress code either. I found it much easier to relax not having to rush off because we HAD to eat at say 5:30 every single day, in the same restaurant. We could eat in the Mexican restaurant, Chinese, Italian, main dining room, etc. Plus the Epic is new, so it should be really nice!

Answer :
Well you decide , Oasis of the Seas is i think the biggest cruise ship and has a lot of shopping but Norwegian Epic has the blue man group and freestyle cruising, oasis isnt

Should I book my cruise itinerary with a cruise agent, or should I go directly through the cruise line?

Going on the Oasis of the Seas next May. Never booked a cruise before, so I don't know the benefits of going through a cruise agent. Can you please tell me?

Answer :
Either way. You most likely will get a bit of a better deal with the travel agent. The ship will get their people so they don't care much about perks. The agent wants to interest you into getting a better deal for you as well as for them so you can get great discounted deals.

Answer :
Either one would be able to help you with the various decisions you will need to make before you can book, i.e. type of cabin, location, etc. Often, travel agents will add "perks" to the cruise booking, e.g. a bottle of wine, or dinner in the premium restaurant, etc. The cruise lines themselves usually don't do that.

Someone in my family just got on the Oasis today - it will be interesting to hear what they think of it. I wouldn't book that ship, but it does seem to be popular.

Anyone been on the Oasis of the Seas? Particularly a balcony room on Boardwalk?

I am debating on whether to get a balcony room on Boardwalk or in Central Park. I know the CP will be nice and quiet but, with the level of the people who will frequent the BdW, I have to wonder how much noise will filter up to your room if you are only 2 decks up. Also, I wonder how much motion there is in the far back on a ship this size. I've heard the middle cabins on any ship will feel the swaying the least but, I wondered on Oasis.

Answer :
I have been on the Oasis Twice Once in a Central Park Balcony and once in a ocean view balcony I would say from what I saw during the day on the boardwalk it might get pretty noisy but at night it is very calm after the aqua theater shows Central park you will not hear a thing but there are the pool parties/sail away parties during the day they play music not too loud though but it is dead silent at night You could only hear the wind blow but that's it there is very very little if any motion there. There would be more near the BW But what ever you want both are good Bw has a good view of the aqua theater

Answer :
I got a balcony stateroom for the boardwalk and totally regreted it. There is no privacy whatsoever. You can practically see into others rooms and it is very noisy. If you are going to get anything get a central park room. Central park was always peaceful and quiet.

Oasis of the Seas or Carnival Dream?

My family and I are planning a cruise for christmas/ new years 2010. We have narrowed it down to two cruises. Which one do you think would be better.
Oasis of the Seas
23 Ft. Lauderdale
24 At Sea
25 Labadee
26 Falmouth
27 At Sea
28 Cozumel
29 At Sea
30 Ft. Lauderdale
$1,799
Carnival Dream
23 Port Canaveral
24 Nassau, Bahamas
25 At Sea
26 At Sea
27 Cozumel
28 Roatan
29 Belize
30 Costa Maya
31 At Sea
1 Port Canaveral
$1,489
Which one do you think would be better? Should I pay more and go for Oasis or is Dream a good ship? Is carnival suitable for families? Which one???????

Answer :
Although the ports on the Carnival Dream's itinerary are a bit more exotic, there is no comparison on what the two ships offer, or for the most part the kind of passengers you will be with while on-board. There is a reason Carnival has a lower price-point, and the answer is simple: Nothing in life (or vacation) is free! Because they are noticeably cheaper, they attract bargain-hunters; and many bargain-hunters (but not all) tend to be less-desirable to be around in most social-settings. Having said all the above, both are brand-new ships with each cruise-line's best crews representing the companies.

Here is just some what you will find on Oasis that you will not find on Dream:

Ice Skating rink that includes both Ice Capades-like shows and public ice-skating time (on previous RCCL ships as well)
Boxing Ring w/ instructors (First-seen on Freedom-Class ships)
Two kinds of balconies: Those which overlook "Central Park" and leave you with the feeling of life in Mid-town Manhattan; and those which look out onto the ocean: Both aft-facing, and outside the port and starboard sides of the ship.

These are only the highlights! There is much more this incredible ship offers it's passengers; and with several of your days being spent at sea, there are more than enough things to keep the kids busy while the adults go off on their own for some quality couples-time alone!!!

Answer :
i have heard the oasis of the seas is an amazing ship it is also very new . i have never heard of the carnival dream . both have great destinations.

Is the ship Oasis of the seas unsinkable?

I want to know what others think I've heard others say it was how about you?

Answer :
There's no such thing as an "Unsinkable" ship. A ship can be engineered to be more water tight and even have floatation engineered in, but never unsinkable. The ocean is unforgivable and will find a way to sink a floating item.

Answer :
There is only one way to make an unsinkable boat or ship... And that is to fill the hull with enough flotation foam that it - even if it is blown apart, the pieces would float. This is currently done on many small fishing and recreational type boats.
On an ocean liner however, the cost of the flotation foam would exceed the cost of the vessel... so, it is not done.
So... Can it sink? You bet it can.

John

Answer :
It is not "unsinkable". People stopped calling ships unsinkable after Titanic. However, it is very VERY HARD to sink it. Many new things have been put on it so it won't sink

Oasis of the Seas or Freedom of the Seas?

My family and I are planning a cruise for december 2010. There are two cruise ships and itineraries that we are choosing betwenn.
Oasis of the Seas
23 Ft. Lauderdale
24 At Sea
25 Labadee
26 Falmouth
27 At Sea
28 Cozumel
29 At Sea
30 Ft. Lauderdale
Freedom of the Seas
26 Port Canaveral
27 At Sea
28 Labadee
29 Falmouth
30 Georgetown
31 Cozumel
1 At Sea
2 Port Canaveral
We originally wanted to go on a new years cruise but oasis is so cool. Should we go on oasis but not have that really cool experience of new years on a cruise, or is freedom close enough to as cool as the oasis that it wouldn't matter? What are your thoughts? Has anyone been on a new years cruise with freedom? Or is christmas on a cruise cool too?

Answer :
It mostly depends on how big you want the ship to be. There is tons to do on both ships for all age groups, so that won't be a problem. Naturally, the Oasis has more, like the zip line, the diving show, and a carousel. As for the Christmas and new year's cruises, they are both really fun. The christmas cruise can be great but you will probably run into homesick crew, as they don't have the chance to see their family and its hard to call them (been there, done that). The new year's one is great, they will have a count down on the royal promenade and its a great party. Either way, both ships are amazing and you will have fun!!!

Answer :
ive been on both cruises but the oasis really stuck out to me. As a matter of fact i am going on the oasis once again in April. Cozumel is a great place to check out and the food is absolutely delicious.especially on the oasis the board walk and central park is a really nice place to go for a walk especially at night

hope this helps

Answer :
Between these two, I would have to go with Oasis. There is so much buzz right now about this ship. It's the largest in the world and has a really unique design. With the ports being so similar, I'd probably take this opportunity to experience Oasis.

Good luck!

Answer :
I would go with the smaller ship. Oasis just seems to big for my taste. I want to feel like I am on a ship. But if you are interested in the Oasis then go for it.

Are there any similarities between Oasis of the seas and Titanic?

I really want know I am a big fan of ships, thanks!

Answer :
I think the Titanic was so small in comparison that it would make for a nice lifeboat on the Oasis

Answer :
at the time of each ships initial sailing- they both claimed to be the largest most luxurious ship

Answer :
Very few. The fact they sail on water and carry passengers are about the only facts they really have in common. The Titanic was held together with wrought iron rivets, and that was the reason she sank, they couldn't stand the pressure. Also, the Titanic didn't have enough lifeboats, and the crew didn't even have the use of binoculars. Also the Oasis is about 5 times the gross weight of the Titanic.

Answer :
They are/were very luxurious ships for their times. However they were for different purposes, Titanic was an ocean liner used for transport and the Oasis is a cruise ship. They have around the same top speed (~42 knots) and both have three engines supplying the power. They are also the largest passenger vessels of their time (1,184 ft and 883 ft).

That's about all I can think of sorry.

Is any one a big Oasis of the seas fan?

I love the ship does anyone else?

Answer :
I've never been on it.
It's promotional advertising looks very promising.
It doesn't need to fit through the Panama Canal b/c that is not part of the voyage itinerary.
It departs from Florida to go to eastern Atlantic islands, returns to port & departs to western destination as far as Mexico.
The cabin pricing seems fair for all of the open options.
I like that zip cord ride, rock climbing, water acrobat shows.
Just as long as a passenger is aware that these may be canceled due to rough seas, then they should not be disappointed.
There are many fine amenities from love cruise to family holidays.
My only concern is service. I have not heard anything bad about them specifically. Just that services have been cut in general on cruises as a cost saver.
If you've ever been on a cruise that treats the common person as a VIP, then this will be disappointing.
I also have ballast concerns about the ship's height in rough seas.
But that the only down sides I can think of. Both are potentials, not facts.

Oasis Of The Seas, Royal Caribbean?

Anyone been on the Oasis or have any info on it? Dreaming of a cruise, maybe planning one for August. Also any idea if this is a bad month for it? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Answer :
The link below has a lot of information on that cruise line that you should find extremely helpful:

http://www.cruisecritic.com/reviews/revi…

The link below has reviews from persons who have been on that cruise line before, you should also find this exremely helpful to you:

http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreview… (Just click on the title of the review and read)

The rainy season officially is strat from June to November 30th every year. However this is not always the case. I belive you should e good in August...its the time of year that many people go crusing and vacationing on land. It does not always rain at that time and is not always excessive rain.

I hope this helps and enjoy your cruise!!

Answer :
If you are into books, your local library may have a copy of a Berlitz travel guide called "Ocean Cruising and Cruise Ships" by Derek Ward, the world's foremost authority on cruising. It is published annually and describes every cruise ship afloat, class of people for whom it is most suited (i.e. kids, teens, older people), what to expect on board, all the facilities available, etc., etc. I wouldn't book to go on an unknown Line without reading what he has to say about it first.
Back to RCIL - our last cruise was with them, to the Baltic - Sweden, Denmark, Finland, St. Petersburg, Estonia, last August. The ship was well-equipped and well-run; staff very friendly and less formal than some of the British cruise lines with which we've sailed before. Catering in the Dining Room not quite to the standard of P & O, for example, but the self-serve was better with an incredible choice. Speciality restaurants excellent. The animals made from hand towels were just something else! The theatre was very good and smacked of Broadway in presentation. Oasis being their new ship and absolutely enormous promises to be a big experience - maybe we'll give it a try next year.

Answer :
Depending on what you like, Royal Caribbean is a great cruise line. We've sailed on Serenade of The Seas and it is an absolutely beautiful ship. RC tends, at least on Caribbean cruises, to attract families so if you go with your family you won't feel alone, like on some lines (Holland America for example). What other kind of info are you seeking?

Help with Allure of the Seas?

I booked a cruise for Allure of the Seas (december 26- january 2 eastern caribbean) I guess when the oasis first debuted, some of the shows were not completely ready, mainly the diving show. Will the shows all be ready to go by the ships third sailing? Also, is allure going to have hairspray or a different broadway show? And are there any differences between oasis and allure? I want to know answers to all these questions but the big on is about the diving show and whether it will be ready or not!

Answer :
If this is your first cruise with Royal Caribbean, I understand your concern, and want to set your mind at ease. Simply-put, there is no question all the shows will have their kinks (what few there were back in the summer when Oasis debuted) worked out. Especially the new Diving-show. With the diving-show being a completely new concept in cruise On-Board entertainment, there most-likely were some unforeseen technical issues that could not be resolved until after the ship was beyond it's sea-trials. Because of this, some of the first cruisers on this incredible ship were shorted a little. But I doubt you will have any issues once you board Allure.

As for the stage-shows, well, your best-bet there is to ask RCCL directly or contact your booking-agent. I will tell you this much, prior to Oasis' debut, RCCL was boasting about the new routines they were coming up with for not only Oasis, but the entire fleet, so my guess is you will not be disappointed on RCCL's Broadway-act.

I'm jealous of you! :-)

Make sure to tell the rest of us your experience once you get back!

Bon Voyage

Oasis of the Seas, have you been on it? Any tips for me about it?

One you should have an awesome time. We did. Pending on what type of cabin you are staying in will depend if you need to make reservations. We stayed in suites and with that you get the use of the concierge room which is fun you get free drinks and appetizers from 5-8, this helps because you get to meet some of the bartenders and with that comes free drinks when your on the ship if you know where they are working. Case in point I only pd for 2 on the whole cruise. Also the concierge can save you seats at the comedy show or ice show stuff like that. Any excursions that you may want to do I would book them before hand, it will get crazy on the ship. Pending on your ports of call depends on my suggestions for you. Most of the time going through the cruise line is fine but if you go to Grand Cayman I would suggest going off and making your own excursion. It is either called Captain Jack or Captain Marvin's they will take you out to sting ray island and to another place to snorkel. And that is cheaper going through them. Plus Grand Cayman has the best water. You have the opportunity to buy travel mug that give you unlimited pop. I bought that but found that I drank mostly water when I was there so it wasn't a good investment. I would suggest the second seating for dinner not the first it gives you more time to enjoy your day. Defiantly do the zip line, surfing,& rock wall that was pretty fun.

Have been on many cruises w/RC. If you have any other specific questions before you go feel free to email me. I can give you specific pointer for different ports of call. You will have a blast.

How Old Do you have to be to go into the clubs on the Oasis Of The Sea Cruise Ship?

I am going on the Cruise is it 18 to party in the clubs at night?

Answer :
The minimum drinking age for all alcoholic beverages on all Royal Caribbean ships is 21. However, on cruises departing from European and South American countries, where the legal drinking age is typically lower than 21, a parent who is sailing with his or her son(s) and/or daughter(s) who is between the ages of 18 to 20, may sign a waiver allowing the 18 to 20 year old to consume alcoholic beverages.

Hope I helped!

Answer :
Drinking age still stands on the cruise ship. They do make certain nights available to the younger crowd. No matter what your age you will have a blast. Make sure you do the zip line, rock wall, and the surf boarding on the ship.

Answer :
the kids club is 12-14
then the teen club is 15-17
adult club is 18 and up

DRINKING AGE DEPENDS ON WHERE YOU LEAVE FROM!
mine is leaving from puerto rico and im 18 so i can sign a waiver that says i can drink

How much did you pay for a back to back holiday on Oasis of the Seas, flying from UK at end of this year, Oct?

Answer :
I am also searching for a cruise on the Oasis of the seas. I have been asking in all my local travel agents but i have recently found a few offers at http://www.cruise.co.uk/ that have caught my eye. I am going to carry on my search but i think i will book there. I hope you find a good deal and have a good time on the cruise :)

Answer :
Thankyou, for ur info I have been quoted a total of £4006 for 2 adults, flying from Glasgow, overnight in Fort Lauderdale then a 2 week cruise on Oasis, thats Barrhead Travel, i'm going to check out the company you suggested too though, thanks and happy hols.

Answer :
I did a 29 day cruise and I pretty much packed for about 10 days. Then I did laundry with the machines they have on board. Or you can sent it out to be laundered if you don't mind paying that cost. I even brought my own laundry detergent and dryer sheets and a roll of quarters(they use American quarters, but check with the cruise company on this). On formal nights I had 2 dresses which I changed accessories on and that was it.

Why was my question removed?

I asked can you compare Oasis of the seas to Titanic? I don't think it was bad if so please help me I do not want to be offensive. thanks.

Answer :
Possibly trolls reported it. If you received a violation notice although some times you don't : This may help you avoid future violations. All it takes is 2 "trusted" members to report you and the bots remove it appeals are often a waste of time and points. however if you are very sure you have been wronged by all means appeal it, the link is below. Some suggestions, If you haven't done so, edit you info so your questions and answers are hidden that way it makes it harder for trolls who enjoy reporting violations or presumed violations to stalk you. Also, avoid pages with controversial subjects such as religion, homosexuality, racism, pornography, any hatred, downloading movies or music, questions about drugs even soft drugs, etc. Even the polls section. Avoid anything that may be remotely considered illegal Don't give smart, flip or sarcastic answers nor use any profanity. Do not use language you wouldn't use when talking to your grandmother and that should keep you safe in that regard. Referring others as a moron, stupid idiot Nazi, retard or anything in that vein is derogatory and insulting to other members and clearly against the guidelines. Pay attention to the definitions of "chatting and solicitation , and what constitutes a question" Never insult another member, call them names, threaten, harass deliberately mislead or post anything in questionable taste.
Should you have axe to grind, agenda or cause to promote be it political religious social or anything similar, no matter how well intentioned you may be, this is the wrong place to promote it. Check the links below for more info.

If you believe you are being stalked go to other categories. You might also consider changing your avatar and i.d.

If your posts show any semblance or insinuation of bigotry, hatred, sermonizing or ranting you can pretty much assume they will be reported and deleted.

Yahoo will not give any specifics when a question or answer is deleted.

You might take the test to determine if something is reportable.

Answer :
reported by the "Answers Community" .appeal it and most likely you will win then the reporter will not be able to report you again. i win almost all of my apeals

Answer :
You received some great advice from others in regards to your deleted question, so I don't need to add a thing. As for the comparison between the two ships, the brand new Oasis is huge, making it far bigger than the Titanic. I've seen pics of it on tv, & taking a cruise aboard the Oasis, would be an awesome experience, I'll bet. Speaking of the Titanic, if you ever get to see the original movie of the Titanic, do so. You can purchase it via Amazon.com. Stars like Barbara Stanwyck & Clifton Webb are great in their roles. It's in black & white, but still, it's the version I like better.

btw: The last surviving passenger, on the ill fated Titanic, recently passed away. She was an infant when the ship sank. Her name was Millvina Dean, & she was 97 y/o when she passed away on May 31, 2009.

Answer :
There's a huge problem on YA with people reporting stuff as a violation when it's really not. If anyone from Yahoo actually read the question it would still be up. They don't though and you're guilty until you prove yourself innocent and actually get lucky enough to have someone read your appeal. YA is sucking because of this if you ask me.

Answer :
Your question(s) or answer(s) were removed from Yahoo Answers most likely because they were against the Community Guidelines or were illegal. Yahoo Answers staff removes answers and questions that violate the Community Guidelines or are illegal at regular intervals (they have an automated program that does this), and they manually check the removals over every once in a while.

Another reason why your question(s) or answer(s) got removed is because a "troll" reported it. This happens fairly often to people, especially when they ask questions in the P&S category. Just ignore it and move on if this happens. If you know who reported the question by chance (although this is highly unlikely), block that user.

Questions are also removed after 4 days of having no answers, or if someone votes "No Best Answer" for a question of yours.

You can always appeal questions or answers that are removed in violation of the Community Guidelines within a week of their removal, although you are most likely not going to win the appeal. Recently, though, many people have been fairly successful at appealing, so your appeals might be won.

Hope this helps :)

Answer :
If you get a violation notice, it will be for the wording. "Can YOU compare Oasis of the seas to Titanic?" is a chatty format. Note that you could get 100 answers, all of which say "yes" and nothing else. That is a big red flag for chatting. Your format does not require information as an answer. Always ask in a format that requires facts. "What are the comparisons between the Oasis of the seas to Titanic?" This form requires facts and if someone just answers "yes", they will be in violation.

However, there are several reasons Qs are removed.

1. It is a violation of the rules - you will get an e-mail when that happens. If you want to know the reason for the violation, post "Why was this question (answer) a violation?" and add the original e-mail you got so the users can see the exact context. The experienced users here will explain it to you. There is no statute of limitations on breaking the YA rules.

2. There were zero answers when the time expired - no e-mail sent.

3. The BA was reported as a violation - no e-mail sent.

4. During voting, "No Best Answer" was chosen as the best answer - no e-mail sent.

Look in your e-mail, including the spam folder, for a violation e-mail. If not there, check your activity tab in your profile. If nothing about a violation there, then the Q was removed for one of the other reasons.

Answer :
Chattiness would be the reason why your question was deleted. It was neither knowledge-worthy nor advice-seeking. That's why there are already chat rooms, message boards and social-networking sites for this purpose. Besides, chatting would waste other users' time who would get or share information from others.

When formatting questions here, you must avoid:
1. Soliciting other users' opinions
2. Using pronouns (I, me, you, we, etc.)

Answer :
It IS the world's largest cruise ship and by almost 50%.

It also kicks any other cruise ships a$$ (or in this case... hull?) in entertainment options and things to do. It is literally a floating city... not a wannabe one like all the other cruise ships.
